Job Description: We are seeking a qualified Medical Technologist to provide full-time clinical laboratory services within the VA medical system. This role will support the Laboratory Medicine Service with comprehensive testing and diagnostic analysis across multiple modalities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform full scope of lab procedures in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, bacteriology, and immunohematology.
Analyze and validate specimens; identify abnormal results and report critical values.
Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab instruments and equipment.
Conduct quality control, calibration, and validation studies.
Collect patient samples as needed (phlebotomy).
Document and verify results in VA laboratory information systems.
Maintain lab inventory and follow all safety and compliance protocols.
Communicate professionally with interdisciplinary staff and support clerical duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from a NAACLS-accredited program.
Certification from ASCP or AMT required.
Active, unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory.
Minimum 1 year of experience in the past 3 years.
BLS (CPR) certification from AHA or equivalent required.
Proficiency in EHR systems preferred (VISTA/CPRS or Oracle Cerner).
Must be computer literate and proficient in English.
